Hello, my name is Genia (pronounced "Geena") Rasmussen (pronounced "RAS mus sen").
Trinidad State is a fantastic place to enhance your educational journey! I’ve been
teaching here since 1997. I earned both my Master of Arts in Business Education and
my Bachelor’s degree from Adams State University. After high school, I attended what
is now Ensign College, where I completed my Associate of Applied Science degree in
Accounting. Additionally, I hold Colorado Business Vocational Credentials.
With a knack for numbers and a love for keeping things in order, I've been journeying
through the world of accounting and office management for over 30 years. From balancing
the books for a cozy family business to juggling administrative tasks for various
Colorado companies, it’s made for great experiences. For 10 years, I served as the
site coordinator for Tax Help Colorado at Valley Campus, and now I volunteer at a
local AARP Tax Aide site, providing free tax prep services within the IRS’s scope.
It’s a wonderful way to serve the community and stay updated on tax law changes.
My husband also taught in the San Luis Valley for 30 years, and together we've raised
three amazing kids. But wait, there's more! We've hit the jackpot with four granddaughters
and a grandson who are like little bundles of joy and energy. They are quickly growing
up so we savor the time we have together! Family time is a top priority, with adventures
and laughter always on the menu. Our clan has journeyed across the U.S., from Hawaii's
tropical vibes to cruising the Mediterranean seas, soaking in the wonders of Venice,
Florence, Rome, Athens, and Barcelona. The latest escapade was to San Francisco to
see the Golden Gate bridge and KARL the Fog! Home is where the heart is, but a sprinkle
of travel magic adds that extra sparkle to life!
When not chasing after grandkids or exploring the globe, you can find me quilting
up a storm, diving into a good book, and breaking a sweat with some exercise. Oh,
and let's not forget my podcast posse - we're all about those ear-tickling discussions
on scenic hikes. Life's a tapestry, woven with family moments and a dash of adventure!
